BriefThem

Terms of service

Last updated September 29, 2026

Who these terms apply to

Kanaan & Co. ('we', 'us') operates BriefThem. These terms are an agreement with the company signing up ('the customer'). They also apply to each person the customer adds ('you'). Whoever signs up confirms they're authorized to accept these terms for their company.

By using BriefThem through email, Slack, Google Chat, Microsoft Teams or the phone app, you accept these terms and our privacy policy.

What BriefThem does

BriefThem reads public sources such as release notes, changelogs, product blogs and industry news. It selects relevant updates for each person's role and tools, summarizes them and delivers them daily. People acknowledge updates so managers can see who's current.

We may improve, change or remove features over time. If we remove a feature the customer relies on, we'll notify account admins in advance when reasonably possible.

Accounts and administrators

The customer's data

The customer owns the information it and its people enter into BriefThem, including acknowledgement records. We use it only to run, secure and improve BriefThem for that customer, as described in the privacy policy. We don't sell it or use it to train AI models.

We may suggest a tool or source someone adds to other customers in the same role. We only share public source addresses. We never share who added them or anything behind a login or in the customer's systems.

Use summaries as a starting point

AI helps write summaries, labels such as "Action required" and check questions using public sources. They may be incomplete or wrong. Each update links to its original source. For changes with consequences, including policy, legal, security or billing changes, use the source and your own judgment, not only the summary. We're not responsible for content from other sources.

Chat tools and your phone

If the customer connects Slack, Google Chat or Microsoft Teams, or you add BriefThem to your phone, those services operate under their providers' terms. We only send your digest and receive your button presses there. The customer can disconnect a tool anytime. Digests then arrive by email.

Acceptable use

Don't use BriefThem to break the law, send messages without consent, add people or client contacts without permission, access others' data, overload or probe the service, or copy or resell it without our written agreement.

Only send client digests to contacts the customer is entitled to email. Each digest lets clients opt out in one click. The customer can't add them back after they opt out.

Trial, plans and payment

Ending the service

The customer can close its account anytime. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, risk harm to the service or other customers, or have unpaid invoices. We'll explain why when we can. After closure, we delete data as described in the privacy policy.

Our responsibility

We work to keep BriefThem accurate, secure and available, but provide it "as is" and "as available". We don't guarantee uninterrupted service, no errors or coverage of all relevant updates. Where the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees the customer paid us in the 12 months before the claim. These terms don't limit liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Changes to these terms

If we make significant changes to these terms, we'll update the date above and email account admins at least 30 days before they take effect. Using BriefThem after that means you accept the new terms.

Law

These terms follow the laws of the State of Arizona, United States, excluding its conflict of law rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods doesn't apply.

A dispute goes to the state and federal courts in Maricopa County, Arizona. We both agree those courts can hear the dispute and won't challenge them as the venue. This doesn't remove any protection under the law where you or the customer are based that can't be waived. Either of us can still ask any court to stop misuse of intellectual property or confidential information immediately.
